Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson (Ana's Review)
Ana: I literally just finished reading the book and everything is really fresh in my mind and if I were less emotional I could probably do a good job but as the emotional reader that I am, right now I only care to say WOW, I LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved every single thing about it and I can only berate myself for not reading it sooner.I also realize that I have no idea on how to write this review.Mostly because two sides of me are battling for attention: the side that loves fantasy and will tell you that this is a wonderfully crafted magic book and that Mrs Wilson has met my most wildest expectations in the development of a new world, which has its own languages, geography, peoples. There are the inner laws of the Magic world and a whole History that goes back thousands of years. Suffice to say that I kept thinking LORD OF THE RINGS, which is my favorite Fantasy novel and one of my top 5 best books of all time. People that know me well, know that I do not take my Lord of the Rings comparisons lightly and when I do so with Lord of the Fading Lands, I am giving it the highest compliment I could give to a book...(Read More)
Lady of Light and Shadows by C.L. Wilson
Holy.Guacamole! Lady of Light and Shadows is teh awesome. I think it is even better than Lord of the Fading Lands, amazing as it sounds, given how much I raved about book 1!Book 2 of Tairen Soul series, it starts in the morning after Lord of the Fading Lands’ final chapter. To be honest , I thought the book started quite wobbly on its feet as it appeared that the author wanted to catch us up on what happened before - so all characters were talking to each other, explaining the happenings over the past few days in Celieria and my patience was running thin as I had literally finished book 1 ten minutes before. But that went on only for a few pages and then BOOM BOOM BOOM, a rollercoaster of emotions and events until the very last page...(Read More)
The Lion's Daughter by Loretta Chase
If I had any doubts that Loretta Chase is one of the best historical romance writers out there, if not THE best, they have been shattered to pieces. The Lion’s Daughter cements it: the book is FANTASTIC. And it’s even more impressive because this was her first full-length novel. I will even say that it is almost as good as Lord of Scoundrels, my all time favourite romance novel……It has all of her distinctive traits, the typical lorettachaseness: strong protagonists, excellent dialogue, the inner thoughts of each character that is pure golden, funny moments and passion enough to fuel a castle...(Read More)
